What is catnip?

It is an herb originating in Europe from the mint family. It contains nepectalatone, a plant compound that attracts cats.

Why is catnip good for my cat?

Its attractive minty scent causes them a great attraction and it is not surprising that they rub on it or lick it. It is important to add that it does not have the same effects on all cats.
